Who wears Proper Suit?
People who know quality and demand convenience. Professionally speaking our members consist of Creative types, Lawyers, Doctors, Financiers, Capitol hill professionals, and the everyday Renaissance man. If you wear a suit or blazer as a uniform we are definitely for you. If you are looking for a one time suit, are in a rush, or not thinking long-term perhaps we are not.
Proper Suit is a lifetime Investment? It's a club?
We keep your pattern on file for life and will be able to evolve it for life. You can’t buy from us without a fitting consultation so we will get to know you personally. Being a part of this club has many perks like having access to beautiful clothes that fit for life.
What is the fitting process like?
Fun and informative. Express yourself with all of our customization options. We have a nice take on menswear so you may learn a thing or two on about how to suit up. The consultation process takes around an hour and it is a very personal and professional experience.
Why do I need my own pattern?
Because your body is unique and you demand the best. There are a lot of working parts to fine menswear and we need everything to match up to your exact specs.
How is Proper Suit more affordable?
We have made many innovations in the way we make the bespoke garment and 'keep the money in the suit'. We source all materials directly and we are the manufacturer. Even though we are a profitable worldwide enterprise we take the up-most pride in not being wasteful. New members come mostly from word-of-mouth and your suit will never subsidize traditional expensive retail models.
What type of jacket constructions do you offer?
All suits are fully-canvassed; anything else wouldn’t be Proper. We do offer a handmade full-canvas upgrade for $250.
What are your prices?
Our entry level 2-piece is $650 and the higher priced handmade Zegna-fabric suits are $2,000+
You want me to start out by buying just one suit?
Actually, yes, if you don’t mind. We would prefer to produce one and make sure it’s amazing before making more. Our suits come out correct after the first fitting, but we don’t advertise that they come out perfect. Like any bespoke or custom product/experience it can continually be evolved and made better , our goal is to simply make that happen. We do not tolerate a hard-sell.
Do you offer refunds?
We do not offer refunds on the custom made product.
I would expect a custom suit to fit perfectly right out of the box and will not bear the cost of alterations to get the perfect fit that is guaranteed.
Our suits are going to fit comfortable and look handsome, but we never promise perfection. There are so many working parts to menswear; from your body, to the drape and the expectations of a new member that guaranteeing delivery of perfection is a fool’s errand. We are a much better alternative to off-the-rack (and sometimes more affordable) and a much better alternative to a tailor who will a) take 3 fittings b) deliver the finished product in 3-6 months and c) cost a small fortune.
Do you cover alterations?
(See above) If alterations are necessary on your first suit purchase we will credit these costs on the next purchase. We ask that we get clear information on how to update your electronic pattern. If there is a bigger issue at hand, please contact support@propersuit.com or 1-855-PROPER-MEN and we will move on from there. If we credited alterations, we would have to raise the price to all members who are happy with their pattern.
How many fittings are required?
One. But let’s say you have sustained a broken collar bone or have a difficult requirement, while it will be a fantastic garment we may need to work closely with you on the second suit.
Why do you charge a $150 deposit for the fitting?
The $150 deposit goes towards the purchase of the bespoke garment. Our tailor’s time is very valuable so we want to make sure there is intent to join. You cannot lock up a fitting without payment. If you are unhappy with the level of personal service or quality of materials we will no doubt gladly refund your deposit.
Where are the wools from?
Our higher level fabrics are sourced from a variety of fine classic Italian mills (VBC, Delfino, Reda, Guabello, Ormezzano, Fintes, Trabaldo Togna, Loro Piana, E.Zegna, Leomaster, Imparato, Puro, E.thomas, Subalpino, Bacci.) Our entry levels are milled in China.
I'm a new member and I need to reschedule my appointment?
We require a phone call 48hrs in advance.
Do you do bulk/wedding discounts for new members?
We do not.
Do you do bulk/wedding discounts for members?
Yes. If you are getting married we would love to hook it up with a fabric upgrade. It is our gift to you. We don't offer bulk discounts.
Do you guys plan on doing Groupon et al or offering big discounts? Why don’t you have twitter/facebook promotions?
We try to keep the lowest possible price at all times for our members. We will never do Groupon. If you join our Facebook, Twitter or Mailing List you can stay up to date with what’s new with us. We will be launching new products like shirts and winter coats in the future.
How long does it take for my Proper Suit to arrive?
3-4 weeks. Sometimes due to the Holiday season or high demand it may take 4-5 weeks. We update you throughout the process so if you need to change the shipping address let us know.
Do you ship to Canada or internationally?
Yes, but we ask the customer to pay all related shipping fees and importation taxes (usually Canada +$25, Europe +$50, and Australia +$75). We also ask for patience. Let’s just say we don’t think it will arrive in 3 weeks.

We offer home/office fitting consultations on a regular basis.
Do you sell ties? Cuff links?
We have no plans to make them. We are going to stick to our bread and butter.
Can you suit my whole office?
We have done POP UPS all over the country for law, creative and finance firms.
I have a wedding/charity event in 3 weeks. Can you speed up my suit?
Nope. It isn’t fair to members to have their suit production slowed down. Also, we take great care and focus on production and right now we don’t offer an expedited service.
Can I get an extra pair of pants? Do you just sell trousers?
Yes and we offer them at a very reasonable price. We do not sell trousers as a stand alone product.
What kind of guarantee do you offer on your product?
We could say ten years, but what would that mean? If you are wearing a super fine material and wear it 3 times a week and dry clean it bi-weekly its going to take the life out of the garment quickly. That is just the nature of the material. The jacket and pants are not going to rip, period.
I plan on losing 15 pounds before the suit arrives, can you make it for me this way?
We’d prefer to map your pattern to the body present during the fitting. Shoulders, arm length and bone structure don’t change too much with 10-15 pounds for men. The weight gained is mostly added to the stomach so you should be ok. If you plan on losing 40 lbs then good luck and come back in 6 months!
Where should I have my package shipped to?
Your office is preferable, as we require a signature.
Can I get surgeon cuffs/working button holes on the first suit?
Maybe, it depends on the fitting. If we feel confident that we can get you the right length for your sleeves we will hook them up. If you must have them, we can construct them for you. Just be aware that any alteration to the length is going to be expensive.
Why do I have limited fabric selection if I am a non-member buying online?
We like to keep the lowest pricing possible for our existing members. By only selling our unique fabrics to existing members we limit the risk and maintain the lowest price.
How is the material cut?
Your pattern is cut with a laser using 3-d auto-cad technology. Yes, its pretty intense!
